The LoJack® System Helps Longmont, Colorado Police Recover Stolen 2013 JLG T350 Boom Lift in 26 Minutes

Construction equipment rental is a huge business these days. Many firms cannot afford to purchase machines they may only need for a short period of time, so leasing is a smart option. Unfortunately, not all customers are honest and some try to abscond with the leased equipment without returning it. That is why so many of the corporations that own these machines protect them with the LoJack® system. In this case, a 2013 JLG T350 Boom Lift (commonly known as a ‘cherry picker’) was recovered by police, assisted by LoJack, in less than a half hour after activation.

On January 10th, 2014, the rental company owners contacted Thornton, CO Police to report the crime. Officers verified the theft information and entered the machine’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Boom Lift.

Less than an hour later, officers with the Longmont PD picked up the homing signals from the stolen construction equipment with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers quickly located the JLG at a construction job site in Longmont. The Boom Lift, valued at $39,950, was retrieved and soon returned to the relieved rental company.
