Cumberland County, North Carolina Sheriff’s Office Recovers Stolen 2012 Toyota Camry in Two Hours, Two Minutes, Assisted by the LoJack® System

A resident of Fayetteville, NC, left his keys in the door when entering his home one evening. The next day, they keys were gone along with his 2012 Toyota Camry. Thanks to the LoJack® system he had installed when purchasing his vehicle, local police were able to recover it in just over two hours after activation.
On January 11th, 2013, the Toyota’s owner reported the incident to the Fayetteville Police Department. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Camry, which was installed at Mark Jacobson Toyota in Durham, NC.
A short while later, deputies from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office in Fayetteville picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The deputies located the Toyota in a manufactured housing development, where it was parked in front of a home. As deputies approached the entrance of the home, a male came to the door. He claimed to be the car’s owner, but had the victim’s keys in his possession and was taken into custody. The Camry was retrieved and soon returned to its grateful owner.
