It was late on a Friday night when the owner of a 2010 Mercury Milan started it up and left it running and unlocked to warm it up before she departed. Unfortunately, when she returned to her driveway, her vehicle was gone. The LoJack® system she had installed when buying her car helped her local police recover it in just 22 minutes after activation.

On December 20th, 2013, the Mercury’s owner contacted the Detroit Police Department to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Milan, which was installed at Metropolitan Lincoln Mercury in Garden City, MI.

Just a few minutes later, several law enforcement agencies in the Detroit Metro area picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their cruisers. Troopers with the Michigan State Police tracked the Mercury to a residential area of Detroit, where it was found parked and abandoned. After a short surveillance, the undamaged Milan was retrieved and soon returned to its thankful owner.
