The LoJack® System Helps Lake County, Florida Sheriff’s Office Recover Stolen Dodge Caliber

It was almost 3:30 in the afternoon of the day after Christmas when the owner of a Dodge Caliber discovered his vehicle was missing from his business parking lot in Tavares, FL. Thanks to his local law enforcement, with assistance from the LoJack® system, the vehicle was recovered quickly and safely.

On December 26th, 2013, the Dodge’s owner contacted the Lake County Sheriff’s Office to report that his vehicle was missing. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Caliber, which was installed at Orlando Dodge in Orlando, FL.

A short while later, deputies from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The deputies found the Dodge in the parking area of an apartment complex in Leesburg, where it was parked and abandoned. The Caliber was retrieved and soon returned to its grateful owner.
