A Mercedes Benz C240 was discovered missing from its owner’s driveway just after lunchtime on a recent Sunday. The victim was glad he had a LoJack® system installed when he bought the car, because, with LoJack’s help, local police were able to recover it in less than five hours after activation.

On December 29th, 2013, the owner of the Mercedes contacted the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office to report that his vehicle was stolen. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack transponder concealed in the C240, which was installed at Mercedes Benz of Tampa, FL, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, deputies from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The deputies found the Mercedes at a strip mall, where it was parked and abandoned behind the row of stores. The C240 was retrieved and soon returned to its grateful owner,
