The victim in this case parked his Toyota Corolla at a paid lot near his job on a recent Monday. He did not return to the lot until after 8 p.m. that evening, when he discovered that both his car and his keys were gone- quite a shock after a long, hard day at work. The LoJack® system that he had installed when purchasing his car proved its worth by helping local police recover the Corolla quickly, safely and without damage.

On December 30th, 2013, the Toyota’s owner contacted the Chicago Police Department to report his vehicle stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the LEADS and NCIC state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Corolla, which was installed at Flexi Lease in Cliffwood, NJ.

A short while later, Chicago PD officers from the 11th District began picking up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers found the Toyota on West Maypole Avenue, where it was discovered parked and unoccupied. The undamaged Corolla was soon returned to its relieved owner.
