When the Philadelphia, PA resident in this case discovered her BMW X5 missing from her driveway, she contacted local law enforcement right away. Reporting a stolen vehicle to police is the only way to activate the LoJack® system. LoJack then sends out a silent signal to help officers find the car quickly and safely. In this case, the X5 was retrieved in just over a half hour after activation.

On January 3rd, 2014, the BMW’s owner called Philadelphia Police to report the incident. The officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and entered it into the Philadelphia Police Computer System, the Philadelphia Crime Information center and the Pennsylvania State Police Computer. The LoJack transponder concealed in the X5, which was installed at Rallye Motors in Roslyn, NY, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, officers from the Philadelphia PD 14th District picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their patrol vehicle. The officers observed the BMW being driven on Chelten Avenue and followed it until they could initiate a safe traffic stop. The driver pulled over and was quickly taken into custody. The owner of the X5 was soon reunited with her car.
