This case involves ground and air units in Phoenix, AZ, combining forces with the LoJack® system to recover a stolen Nissan Altima in less than two hours after activation.

On December 27th, 2013, the Nissan’s owner called police to report the crime. The stolen vehicle information was then entered into the NCIC police computer. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Altima, which was installed at ABC Nissan in Phoenix, AZ.

A short while later, a Phoenix Police flight crew began picking up the homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their helicopter. The flight crew located the Nissan at an apartment complex on North 23rd Avenue, where it was parked and abandoned in the resident lot.  Ground units quickly retrieved the Altima and returned it to its owner’s custody.
