On a recent Monday evening, the owner of a Toyota Corolla noticed his vehicle was missing from his backyard.  Further investigation revealed that both his girlfriend and his car key were gone as well. Thanks to his local law enforcement, with help from the LoJack® system he had installed when purchasing his car, the Corolla was located that same day.

On November 4th, 2013, the Toyota’s owner contacted the Miami Gardens Police Department to report his vehicle stolen. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack device concealed in the Corolla, which was installed at Kendall Toyota in Miami, FL, was then automatically activated.

Later in the day, a Miami-Dade PD officer picked up the homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The officer located the Toyota parked and unoccupied on S.W. 39th Street, West Park, Broward County. As the officer was outside of his jurisdiction, he turned the recovery over to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office. The Corolla was recovered and quickly returned to it grateful owner.
