The LoJack® system is not just for recovering newer vehicles. Often, collectors will spend a great deal of time and money restoring and improving classic machines, to the point of where they are valued at many times their original worth, and require the extra protection that LoJack provides. This is why LoJack for Classics was created- this system does not drain the battery nor interfere with the design integrity. In this case, a 1967 Volkswagen van valued at $55,000 is stolen along with its storage trailer, and then recovered by police assisted by LoJack for Classics.

On December 5th, 2013, the VW’s owner contacted the San Diego Police Department to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers.  The LoJack device concealed in the van, which was installed at Infiniti of Thousand Oaks, CA, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, investigators from the San Diego Regional Auto Theft Task (RATT) Force picked up the homing signals from the stolen van on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  The investigators tracked the vehicle to a residential area in Chula Vista, where it was parked and abandoned. After a brief surveillance, officers retrieved the undamaged van and its trailer, worth $20,000, and returned both to their happy owner.
