The Chicago, IL resident in this case had her Chevrolet Malibu stolen from her residence just after doing some holiday shopping. She was saved from having a car-less holiday thanks to local law enforcement and the LoJack® system she had installed when purchasing her vehicle. With LoJack’s assistance, police were able to recover her Malibu in less than five hours after activation.

On December 23rd, 1013, the Chevy’s owner contacted the Chicago Police to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the LEADS and NCIC state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Malibu, which was installed at Kingdom Chevrolet in Chicago, IL.

A short while later, Chicago Police in the 15th and 25th Districts began picking up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the Chevy to the west side of Chicago where it was discovered parked and unoccupied. The undamaged Malibu was retrieved and quickly returned to its owner who stated that LoJack had saved her Christmas from being ruined.
