The owner of a Nissan Maxima spent the night at a motel in North Bergen, NJ, and awoke to find his Nissan Maxima missing from the parking lot. Because this victim was smart enough to have the LoJack® system installed when he purchased his vehicle, the local police, with LoJack’s help, were able to locate it in less than two hours after activation.

On December 22nd, 2013, the Nissan’s owner contacted the North Bergen Police Department to report that his vehicle had been stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack transponder concealed in the Maxima, which was installed at Hudson Maxima in Jersey City, NJ, was then automatically activated.

A short time later, a deputy from the Essex County Sheriff’s Department picked up the homing signals coming from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The Nissan was tracked to the Ironbound section of Newark, where it was found parked and abandoned. The undamaged Maxima was soon returned to its happy owner.
