You never know where a vehicle thief may strike- at a shopping mall, your workplace, or even your home. The LoJack® system is hidden inside your car so the thief can’t see it, and is ready to help police track down your stolen car, truck, van or motorcycle quickly and safely- as in this case, where a Honda’s Civic was taken from its owner’s Yonkers, NY residence.

On December 9th, 2013, the Honda’s owner contacted Yonkers Police to report the vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the NYSPIN and NCIC state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Civic, which was installed at Yonkers Honda in Yonkers, NY.

A short time later, officers from NYPD’s Bronx Auto Larceny Unit picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the Honda a gas station on Westchester Square, where it was parked with one occupant. The suspect, who also had a forged driver’s license, was taken into custody. The undamaged Civic was retrieved and soon returned to its extremely happy owner.
