When the owner of a Ford F-250 pickup discovered his truck missing from the parking lot of a motel in Houston, TX, where he had spent the previous evening, he contacted local law enforcement right away. Reporting a stolen vehicle to police is the only way to activate the LoJack® system, which assists officers in recovering stolen cars, truck, vans and motorcycles quickly and safely.

On December 12th, 2013, the Ford’s owner reported the crime to the Houston Police Department. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the F-250, which was installed at Marysville Ford in Marysville, WA.

A short while later, officers from the Houston PD picked up the homing signals from the stolen pickup on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the pickup and located it parked and abandoned in a truck stop parking lot. The F-250’s owner was relieved to have his truck returned to him.
