The owner of a 2012 Toyota Camry double parked in front of his home one Sunday afternoon to unload packages, but, while he was putting the items inside, someone took off with his car. The thief didn’t know that the stolen vehicle was protected by the LoJack® system. Local police, with help from LoJack, were able to recover the Camry quickly, safely, and without damage to the car.

On December 15th, 2013, the Toyota’s owner contacted the Newark Police Department to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Camry, which was installed at Hudson Toyota in Jersey City, NJ.

A short time later, a patrol officer from the Essex County Sheriff’s Department picked up the homing signals coming from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The officer tracked the Camry to a nearby apartment complex where the vehicle was parked and abandoned. The owner of the Toyota was thrilled to have his undamaged vehicle back in his possession.
