The owner of an Infiniti G35 in Brooklyn, NY, was in fear of his life when he was carjacked at gunpoint while stopping for a red light one Wednesday afternoon. His car door was suddenly ripped open and three armed men removed him from the driver’s seat and drove away. We know this victim was smart because he offered no resistance to the perpetrators, and because he had the LoJack® system installed when purchasing his vehicle. Local police, assisted by LoJack, were able to recover the G35 that same day.

On December 11th, 2013, the Infiniti’s owner contacted the NYPD 79th precinct in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, NY, to report the incident. The officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the NYPD stolen auto computer and the NCIC national computer. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the G35, which was installed at Bay Ridge Nissan in Brooklyn, NY.

A short while later, officers from the 79th precinct picked up the homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the Infiniti to a residential area, where it was parked and abandoned on the street. After a brief surveillance, the undamaged G35 was retrieved and soon returned to its elated owner.
