On a recent Friday the 13th, the owners of a BMW 325Ci in Greensboro, NC, found that dreaded day lived up to expectations when they discovered their vehicle stolen from a restaurant parking lot. These victims countered this bad luck with good sense- they had the LoJack® system installed when they purchased their car, so local police were able to recover it quickly, safely, and without damage.

On December 13th, 2013, the BMW’s owner contacted the Greensboro Police Department to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the 325Ci, which was installed at Checkered Flag Porsche-BMW-Jaguar-Audi in Virginia Beach, VA.

A short while later, officers from the Greensboro PD received the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the BMW to Town Street, where it was parked and abandoned. The undamaged 325Ci was recovered and soon returned to its grateful owners.
