On a cold Friday morning in Monroe, WA, the owner of a Honda Accord left it running in the driveway to warm up. Unfortunately, the car was not locked and an opportunistic thief took advantage of the situation by driving off in the vehicle. The LoJack® system this owner had installed when purchasing the Accord proved to be a worthwhile investment. With LoJack’s help, local law enforcement retrieved the car in less than 90 minutes after activation.
On November 22nd, 2013, the Honda’s owner reported the crime to the Monroe Police Department. Officers entered the vehicle identification number into the state and federal crime computers. That process automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Accord, which was installed at Honda of Kirkland, WA.
A short time later, a Snohomish County Sheriff deputy received the homing signal transmitting from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The deputy located the Honda on Blueberry Lane SE near Monroe, where he found it parked and abandoned. The undamaged Accord was recovered and soon returned to its grateful owner.
