The California resident in this case figured his Honda Civic LX would be safe in in a hotel parking garage while he was vacationing in Las Vegas. That situation turned out to be a bad bet when his car was stolen. It’s a good thing this victim didn’t gamble when he bought his vehicle- he had the LoJack®  system installed, which gave local law enforcement the inside track on recovering the Civic- in less than 90 minutes after activation.

On December 1st, 2013, the Honda’s owner discovered his car keys missing, and, when he checked his hotel’s garage, his car was gone as well. He immediately contacted the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and a theft report was filed.  After verifying the theft, officers entered the stolen vehicle information into the NCIC Stolen Vehicle System. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Civic, which was installed at Ball Automotive in National City, CA.

A short while later, LVMP officers began picking up the homing signal from the stolen car with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers quickly tracked the Honda near Audrey and Albert Street where the car was parked and abandoned. The undamaged Civic was retrieved and soon returned to its relieved owner.
