On a recent Sunday, the owner of a Ford Fusion in Seattle, WA, gave the keys to a relative to retrieve property inside the car. The family member unknowingly dropped the keys, and when the owner went to leave, the car was gone.  Local law enforcement air and ground crews, with help from the LoJack® system installed in the car, were able to retrieve it in just over a half hour after activation.

On November 24th, 2013, the Ford’s owner contacted the Seattle Police Department.  Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle identification number into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the Fusion, which was installed at Scarff Ford in Auburn, WA, was then automatically activated.

A very short time later, the King County Sheriff’s Office ‘Guardian One’ flight crew received the homing signal transmitting from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their helicopter, and requested ground assistance. A Seattle PD officer located the Ford on East Pine Street, where it was parked and unoccupied. The Fusion was recovered and soon returned to its grateful owner.
