When a 2009 Peterbilt tractor was stolen in Brooklyn, NY recently, the owner was glad he had invested in the LoJack® system when purchasing his machine. With LoJack’s help, local law enforcement recovered the tractor that same day.

On December 3rd, 2013, the Peterbilt’s owner contacted the NYPD 63rd precinct in East Flatbush Brooklyn to report the crime. Officers took a written report and entered the tractor’s information into the NYPD Stolen Auto Computer and the NCIC national computer system. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder installed on the machine.

A short while later, officers from the Suffolk County PD picked up the homing signal from the stolen equipment on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the signal to a highway in Long Island, where they found the Peterbilt parked and abandoned. The undamaged tractor was recovered and soon returned to its grateful owner.
