When the Southwest Ranches, FL residents in this case discovered their Ford Mustang missing early one Wednesday morning, they were grateful for the LoJack® system installed in their car. With LoJack’s assistance, local police were able to recover the car in less than a half hour after activation.

On October 23rd, 2013, the Ford’s owners contacted the Broward County Sheriff’s Office to report their vehicle stolen. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police procedure automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Mustang, which was installed at Maroone Ford of Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Within minutes of activation, a Miami-Dade Police Department officer picked up the homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The officer located the Ford parked and abandoned on NW 115th Street. After a brief surveillance, the Mustang was recovered and soon returned to its relieved owners.
