The Pottstown, PA resident in this case probably had lots of plans for Thanksgiving Day- eating a delicious meal, visiting with family and friends, watching football.  One event occurred that wasn’t on the list- being victimized by a vehicle thief. The LoJack® system the owner had installed when purchasing the Honda Pilot showed its value by helping local law enforcement recover the SUV quickly and safely.

On November 28th, 2013, the Honda’s owner contacted Pottstown Police to report the incident. An officer arrived on location, interviewed the complainant and surveyed the area for the SUV. When the vehicle could not be located, the officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and arranged to have it entered into the Pennsylvania State Police Computer. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Pilot, which was installed at Conicelli Honda in Conshohocken, PA.

A short while later, officers from the Upper Merion PD received the homing signal from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed on their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the Honda to an industrial area and found it parked and abandoned. The Pilot was retrieved and soon returned to its thankful owner.
