Black Friday 2013 turned out to be especially dark for the Baltimore, MD residents in this case. Their home was burglarized and their 2010 Ford Focus was taken by the culprits as well. These victims were smart enough to have the LoJack® system installed when they purchased their car helped local police retrieve it in less than an hour after activation.

On November 27th, 2013, the Ford’s owner contacted the Baltimore City Police Department to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Ford, which was installed at Koons Ford in Baltimore, MD.

A short while later, flight officers in the Baltimore City Aviation Unit Foxtrot and detectives from the Regional Auto Theft Team picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their helicopter and patrol vehicles. The flight officers and detectives tracked the Ford to an alley in Baltimore City, where they found it parked and abandoned. The undamaged Focus was recovered by police and soon returned to its grateful owners.
