A Jeep Grand Cherokee was stolen in Colton, CA one November morning, and its owner called police right away. Only when a vehicle theft is reported to and recorded by law enforcement can the LoJack® system be activated. This victim’s local police, aided by LoJack, recovered the SUV in just over a half hour after activation.

On November 26th, 2013, the Jeep’s owner contacted the Colton Police Department to report the incident. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Grand Cherokee, which was installed at Buerge Motors in West Los Angeles, CA.

A short while later, Riverside PD officers and Riverside RPD-1 Helicopter flight officers picked up the homing signal from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Jeep was finally located parked in a residential driveway on Ottawa Ave. One suspect was arrested at the scene. The undamaged Grand Cherokee was soon returned to its happy owner.
