The victim in this case, an over the road truck driver, had left his 2012 Nissan Sentra at a friend’s home in Charlotte, NC, for safekeeping while he traveled for work. Unfortunately, his friend’s son drove away in the car without the owner’s permission, but was unaware of the LoJack® system hidden inside the vehicle. LoJack assisted local law enforcement in tracking down both the Sentra and the son.

On November 3rd, 2013, the Nissan’s owner contacted the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. That action automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Sentra, which was installed at Action Nissan in Nashville, TN.

A short while later, CMPD officers picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the Nissan to the parking lot of a medical building on Central Avenue.  Two people, including the friend’s son, were sitting inside the parked car. The suspected thief was taken into custody and the undamaged Sentra was swiftly returned to its grateful owner.
