This case involves a Toyota Camry stolen from the owner’s apartment complex parking lot in Austin, TX. The LoJack® system the owner has installed when purchasing his car proved to be an excellent investment, because LoJack helped local police recover it quickly and safely.

On November 18th, 2013, the Camry’s owner contacted the Austin Police Department to report the crime.  Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Camry, which was installed at Red McCombs Toyota in San Antonio, TX.

A short while later, deputies from the Bastrop Sheriff’s Department picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the stolen Toyota to a business parking lot, where they found it parked and abandoned. After a brief surveillance, the undamaged Camry was recovered and soon returned to its thankful owner.
