When his Toyota RAV4 was stolen while parked in front of his upper Manhattan home, this NY resident knew just what to do- he called local police to report the theft, so officers could activate the LoJack® system installed in his SUV and recover it fast- in this case, less than two hours after activation.

On November 8th, 2013, the Toyota’s owner contacted NYPD’s 30th precinct to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers (NYSPIN/ NCIC). This action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the RAV-4, which was installed at Prestige Toyota in Ramsey, NJ.

A short while later, officers from NYPD 30th precinct picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked and located the Toyota parked and abandoned on a residential street. The RAV-4 was retrieved and soon returned to its happy owner.
