The Toyota Corolla owner in this case was picking up dinner from a restaurant in Paterson, NJ, and left his car unlocked and running while he did so.  Unfortunately, a passing thief hopped in and took his Corolla ‘to go’. The LoJack® system the victim had installed when purchasing his vehicle helped local police retrieve it and return it to him without any damage.

On November 11th, 2013, the Toyota’s owner contacted the Paterson Police Department to report that his vehicle had been stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Corolla, which was installed at Muller Toyota in Clinton, NJ.

A short time later, a patrol officer from the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department picked up the homing signals coming from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The officer tracked the Toyota to Straight Street in Paterson, where he found it parked and abandoned. The undamaged Corolla was soon returned to its happy owner.
