LoJack® depends upon the men and women of law enforcement to recover stolen vehicles using the LoJack system. These officers know our system better than just about anyone, so it is especially gratifying to us when a member of law enforcement chooses to protect their vehicle with our system, and even better when one of their vehicles is recovered using LoJack. In this case, a retired Chicago, IL police officer is a victim when his 2011 Chrysler 300C is stolen, but his vehicle is recovered in less than five and a half hours by local police assisted by LoJack.

On November 19th, 2013, the Chrysler’s owner contacted the Chicago Police Department to report the incident. After verifying the theft, officers entered the vehicle’s information into the LEADS/NCIC state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the 300C, which was installed at Sherman Dodge in Skokie, IL.

A short time later, police in Chicago’s 3rd and 6th Districts began receiving the homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. They located the Chrysler traveling near 70th and Stoney Island Ave on Chicago’s south east side and performed a traffic stop. One suspect was arrested, and the undamaged 300C was soon returned to its grateful owner.
