While the Georgia resident was visiting a mall one Tuesday, a thief was checking out her 2010 Toyota Camry in the parking lot, and when she left to go home, her car was gone. Luckily, this smart shopper had purchased the LoJack® system for her vehicle, so local police were able to recover it in less than three hours after activation.

On October 22nd, 2013, the Toyota’s owner contacted the DeKalb County Police to report the incident. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack device transponder concealed in the Camry, which was installed at Atlanta Toyota in Gwinnett, GA, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, troopers with the Georgia State Patrol began receiving a homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The troopers tracked the vehicle to a shopping area where they found it parked with two people inside. After a brief pursuit, the troopers found the car parked and abandoned behind a warehouse. The undamaged Camry was soon returned to its grateful owner.
