Companies that rent equipment know how valuable their machines are and how popular these items are with thieves. Many of them choose to protect their assets with the LoJack® system, which gives law enforcement help in tracking down and recovering stolen inventory. In this case, a 2009 Magnum CE-MLT-360 Light Tower taken from an event site is recovered in less than 90 minutes by police assisted by LoJack.

On November 15th, 2013, an employee of the company renting the Magnum contacted the San Diego Police Department to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the construction equipment information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Light Tower.

A short while later, officers from the San Diego PD picked up the homing signals from the stolen equipment on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  The officers tracked the light tower to a commercial area in San Diego, where they found it abandoned. The undamaged Magnum was soon returned to its very happy owners.
