Home improvement stores that rent vehicles and equipment often store their machines in their parking lots, which are wide open and accessible to anyone, putting their fleet at risk. That’s why so many of these merchants choose to protect their cars, trucks, and construction equipment with the LoJack® system. LoJack gives police an advantage by helping them locate and retrieve stolen vehicles safely and quickly.

On November 12th, 2013, the manager of a home improvement store contacted the Roswell, GA, to report the theft of a 2010 Ford Econoline rental van. Officers verified the theft and entered the van’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Econoline.

A short while later, a Fulton County police officer began receiving the homing signal from the stolen van on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. He located the Ford in a shopping area and called for assistance. The officers performed a traffic stop and arrested the driver. The Econoline was soon returned to the relieved store management.
