A brazen thief stole a Honda CR-V right out of its sleeping owner’s driveway in Tacoma, WA recently. This particular victim prepared for this possibility by having the LoJack® system when buying the SUV, so local law enforcement could recover it in just over an hour after activation.

On November 7th, 2013, the Honda’s owner contacted the Tacoma Police Department to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle identification number into the state and federal crime computers. That process automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the CR-V, which was installed at South Tacoma Honda in Tacoma, WA.

A short time later, Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies received the homing signal transmitting from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol cars.  The deputies tracked the signal to a warehouse store lot on Mountain Highway. A suspect in the car was taken into custody, and the CR-V was soon returned to its thankful owner.
