The Texas resident in this case was on vacation and asked her mother to check on her residence. Imagine her shock when Mom reported back that her home was broken into and her 2011 Toyota Corolla was missing.  It’s a good thing that she did not have to be there to activate the LoJack® system on her car. All our victim had to do was contact law enforcement in her hometown to report the theft. The police were able to activate her LoJack, track down her Corolla, and store it for safe keeping until she returned.

On November 12th, 2013, the Toyota’s owner contacted the Harris County Constable- Precinct 3 to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Corolla, which was installed at Champion Toyota- Gulf Freeway in Houston, TX.

A short while later, officers from the Houston PD picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the Toyota to a convenience store, where it was parked at the fuel pumps. After a brief surveillance, a suspect entered the Corolla and tried to drive off but was stopped by police and arrested. Police stored the car for safekeeping until the owner returned from vacation.
