A typical Tuesday morning soon became anything but for these Durham, NC, residents when they discovered their Honda Accord EX-L missing. These victims had been smart enough to prepare for this possibility by having the LoJack® system installed when they bought their car, so local police were able to recover it in less than 45 minutes after activation.

On November 12th, 2013, the owner of a 2010 Honda Accord EX-L contacted the Durham Police Department to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Accord, which was installed at Crown Honda in Durham, NC.

A short while later, an inspector from the North Carolina DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) License and Theft Bureau picked up the homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in the patrol vehicle. The Inspector tracked the Honda to a public lot off NC98/Holloway St., where it was found parked and unoccupied.  The undamaged Accord was soon returned to its relieved owner.
