Late one Tuesday afternoon, the owner of a Yamaha R6 motorcycle discovered it missing. It was not gone long thanks to the LoJack® system installed on the  bike, which helped police locate it in less than 90 minutes after activation.

On November 12th, 2013, the Yamaha’s owner contacted Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department- Century Station to report the crime. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the R6, which was installed at Del Amo Motor Sports in Redondo Beach, CA, was then automatically activated.

A short time later, several law enforcement agencies in Los Angeles County were picking up the homing signal from the stolen bike on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. An air unit from Burbank was patrolling the area of Pasadena/Altadena when they also picked up the signal.  They directed ground units from the LASD Altadena Station to a residence on Olive St.  The Yamaha was located hidden under a tarp. Another stolen motorcycle was also discovered. A male suspect at the location was taken into custody and the R6 was soon returned to its very happy owner.
