When an Oklahoma City University student was the victim of car thieves recently, having the LoJack® system installed when purchasing the Toyota Camry turned out to be a smart investment. Local police, with the help of LoJack, were able to recover the vehicle in less than two and a half hours after activation.

On November 11th, 2013, the Toyota’s owner contacted the Oklahoma City University Campus Police Department to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This action automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Camry, which was installed at Gresham Toyota in Gresham, OR.

A short while later, deputies with the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Department picked up the homing signal from the stolen car with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol cars. The deputies tracked the Toyota to the area of NW 24th and Walker in Oklahoma City, where they found the vehicle parked and unoccupied.  The undamaged Camry was soon returned to its relieved owner.
