When you drop your vehicle off to be repaired, you presume that it will be stored, safe and secure, until the work is done and you pick it up. The owner of a Jaguar S-Type found that this was not the case when his car was stolen from a body shop while awaiting a paint job. Although the victim could not depend on the store’s security, he could count on the LoJack® system he had installed when he bought his Jaguar, which helped local police recover it in less than 20 minutes after activation.

On October 26th, 2013, the Jag’s owner contacted the New Orleans Police to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, The LoJack unit concealed in the S-Type, which was installed at Jake Kaplan Jaguar-Rover in Providence, RI, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, some NOPD officers picked up the homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officer located the Jaguar in a vacant lot in Central City with the license plate removed. The undamaged S-Type was recovered and soon returned to its grateful owner.
