When an IHI Mini Excavator was recently stolen from a California construction site, the company owners contacted local police right away. They knew that only law enforcement could activate the LoJack® system installed on their machine. With LoJack’s help, the equipment was recovered in just two minutes after activation.

On October 15th, 2013, the owner of the IHI contacted the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department to report the crime. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the excavator.

A very short time later, SBSD deputies assigned to the Twin Peaks Station picked up the homing signal on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their patrol vehicles. The deputies located the IHI in less than a mile from its original location. The undamaged excavator, valued at $30,000, was soon returned to its relieved owners.
