In this Riverside, CA case, helicopter flight officers team up with Sheriff’s ground units and the LoJack® system to recover a stolen Dodge Ram 1500 pickup in less than 45 minutes after activation and take a repeat offender into custody.

On October 7th, 2013, the Dodge’s owner contacted the Riverside Sheriff’s Department to report the crime. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Ram, which was installed at Moss Brothers Dodge in Riverside, CA.

A short time later, Riverside PD Flight Officers picked up the homing signal from the stolen pickup on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their helicopter. The flight crew located the Dodge parked in front of a residence and directed Riverside Sheriff- Moreno Valley deputies to the location. As ground units arrived, a male suspect ran from the truck into the residence and out the rear door, jumping the fence. The helicopter followed him until deputies could move in for the arrest. This was the third time this year this suspect had been arrested while in possession of a LoJack equipped stolen vehicle. Another suspect was arrested for parole violation. The Ram was soon returned to its happy owner.
