The Chicago, IL resident in this case probably was not expecting someone to steal her Dodge Neon when it was parked in front of her home on a recent Friday night, but she was prepared for the incident because she had the LoJack® system installed when she bought it. Local police, assisted by LoJack, were able to recover her car in less than 90 minutes after activation.

On November 1st, 2013, the Dodge’s owner contacted the Chicago Police Department (CPD) to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle’s information into the LEADS and NCIC state and federal crime computers. The LoJack device concealed in the Neon, which was installed at Enterprise Car Sales in Chicago, IL, was then automatically activated.

A short time later, officers in the CPD 7th District began picking up the homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their patrol vehicles.  The officers located the Dodge in traffic near Marquette Rd and Ashland Ave. After a traffic stop, both occupants fled on foot, but were quickly apprehended and taken into custody.  The Neon was soon returned to its rightful owner.
