This case involves a Takeuchi TL150 skid steer loader missing from a public utilities project site in Raleigh, NC. Because the machine was shared by several crews, the workers were not sure of when it was stolen. Because the company’s owners chose to protect their asset with the LoJack® system, local law enforcement recovered it quickly and safely.

On October 28th, 2013, the contractor contacted Raleigh Police to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the loader.

A short while later, deputies from the Wake County Sheriff’s Office picked up the homing signals from the stolen machine on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  The deputies tracked the vehicle to a residence/small farm, where they found the Takeuchi behind a shed in a horse pasture.  The loader was recovered and soon returned to the job site.
