This case involves a Ford F-250 pickup purchased in California, stolen in Arizona and recovered in North Carolina. It’s a good thing that no matter what US state your LoJack® system was installed in, when your vehicle is stolen and police activate the LoJack unit, it will be activated in all US areas with LoJack coverage.

On Sunday, September 22nd, 2013, the Ford’s owner truck contacted the Yuma, AZ. Police to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the F-250, which was installed at Pacific Ford in Long Beach, CA, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, while watching traffic at a NASCAR event, officers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg, NC Police Aviation Unit picked up the homing signals from the stolen truck on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their helicopter.  The Aviation Unit tracked the Ford to a shopping center, and found it parked outside a restaurant. Concord Police ground units arrived at the scene, found the driver inside the restaurant, and made an arrest.  Inside the pickup was a stolen hand gun.  The pickup was soon returned to its grateful owner.
