The Boston based owners of a 2011 Volvo C30 knew that having the LoJack® system installed meant that police would have a helping hand in recovering their vehicle in case of theft. Less than three months later, they knew their investment was a smart one, because their car was stolen and recovered in less than five hours by local law enforcement assisted by LoJack.

On August 21st, 2013, the Volvo’s owners contacted Boston Police District C-4 Station to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the C30, which was installed at Boston Village Volvo in Boston, MA.

A short while later, officers from Boston, Brookline and the Massachusetts State Police began picking up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. A Boston officer located the Volvo on Northampton Street, where it was parked and abandoned. The C30’s owners were thrilled to have their undamaged vehicle returned to them.
