This case involves a question of ownership concerning a Mercedes Benz C320. Although local police are not sure who is the proper owner of this car, they are very aware of its location, thanks to the LoJack® system.

On October 27th, 2013, the owner of the Mercedes contacted the Charleston, SC, Police to report that their vehicle was stolen from their home. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack transponder concealed in the Mercedes, which was installed at UAG HBL in Vienna, VA, was then automatically activated,

A short while later, officers from the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office picked up the homing signals from the car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers located it at a home west of the Ashley River. The occupant of the residence stated he bought the Mercedes in a private sale two days before it was reported stolen. The case is currently under investigation.
