The San Jose, CA resident thought that when he chained up his 2009 Kawasaki EX250 motorcycle in the parking lot of his apartment building, it would be safe. Unfortunately, a determined thief proved him wrong by stealing it. The bike’s owner was prepared for this situation because there was a LoJack® system installed on his machine. Local law enforcement, assisted by LoJack, recovered the EX250 in less than four hours after activation.

On October 17th, 2013, the Kawasaki’s owner contacted San Jose Police to report the crime. Officers verified the crime information and entered the motorcycle’s VIN (vehicle identification number) into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle, which was installed at Bert’s Mega Mall in Covina, CA, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, San Jose PD officers picked up the homing signals from the stolen motorcycle on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers located the Kawasaki at a house in San Jose.  After a brief surveillance, the bike was found in the home’s garage. Two occupants of the residents were arrested. The EX250 was undamaged and soon returned to its relieved owner.
