What would be worse for the owner of a construction company to arrive at a job site and find a piece of construction equipment missing? How about finding TWO machines missing? This victim was smart enough to have the LoJack® system installed on his 2012 Melroe Bobcat skid steer, and his older Bobcat as well, so local police were able to recover both the next day.

On October 17th, 2013, the owner of the construction company contacted the Harford County Sheriff’s Department to report that their units were stolen. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponders concealed in the Bobcats.

A short while later, a trooper with the Maryland State Police picked up the homing signals from the stolen machines on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The trooper tracked the Bobcats to Shipley Road in Anne Arundel County, and found them parked on a storage lot, hidden by storage trailers. Both Bobcats, with a combined value of over $56,500, were soon returned to their grateful owner.
