In this case, a BMW 740iL is discovered missing late one Saturday afternoon. The owner was glad he had the LoJack® system installed when he purchased his car, because local law enforcement, assisted by LoJack, recovered the vehicle in less than one hour, giving him the rest of the weekend to relax.

On October 12th, 2013, the BMW’s owner reported the crime to the Reno Police Department. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the NCIC national vehicle theft data base. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the 740iL, which was installed at Roseville Mazda/Subaru in Roseville, CA.

Less than an hour later, officers with the Reno PD began to receive the homing signal on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their patrol vehicles. The officer tracked and located the BMW in a residential area near Cassaza and Rondell streets, where it was parked and abandoned. The 740iL was soon returned to its relieved owner.
