Most large automotive dealerships have a large number of vehicles both new and used, so, if one is stolen, it can take some time for the business to realize it’s gone. In this case, a car dealership in Renton, WA discovered a 2008 Audi A4 was missing. The dealership also discovered the power of the LoJack® system- their local police, helped by LoJack, retrieved the missing car in just over one hour after activation.

On October 10th, 2013, the theft was reported to the Renton Police Department. Officers verified the report and entered the vehicle identification number into the state and federal crime computers. That process automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the A4, which was installed at Audi of Mission Viejo, CA.

A short time late, Pierce County deputies received the homing signal transmitting from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol cars. Officers tracked the A4 to a library parking lot on Pacific Avenue South, where it had been abandoned. The dealership was thrilled to have the undamaged Audi back in their inventory.
